Family Visa for Canada

Canada highly promotes the reunification of families. It offers many family visa programs that feature a range of opportunities and multiple programs for citizens of Canada and permanent residents. They can sponsor their family members to reside in Canada. Different visa programs are offered through which you can sponsor your husband/wife, children, parents and other relatives.

Spousal Visa

A permanent resident of Canada is allowed to sponsor another person as a spouse if they are legally married. Homosexual marriages are also recognized for immigration to Canada but only if the marriage takes place in Canada or any other country in which same-sex marriages are allowed by the constitution. If you want to sponsor your partner for permanent residency in Canada, you should apply for the spousal visa program.

Dependent Child Visa

Family ties are highly encouraged in Canada. The country values family reunion and offers dependent child visa for the purpose of uniting the kids with their Canadian parents. This visa permits the permanent residents and Citizens of Canada to apply for sponsoring their adopted or depended children. They can also sponsor their partners’ children. The age of the kids for this visa should be less than 19 years. After the visa gets approved, the dependent children can come to Canada to stay with their parents. The children are then permitted to live permanently in Canada, and they are entitled to studying and working there.

Common-Law Partner Visa

Through the common-law partner visa, the qualified applicants can get to live with their partners (either of different or same sex) in the country. This program suggests that if you are a permanent Canadian resident or a Canadian citizen, you can sponsor your common-law partner along with the dependent children. Besides, you will be supposed to live with the partner and offer financial support to her/him. After the application gets approved, the applicant would be allowed to study and work in Canada for as long as he/she wants.

Conjugal Partner Visa

Conjugal Partner visa offers reunion of the partners that get separated because of discrimination, war or any of other possible legal barriers. Through this visa, the eligible partners (of same and opposite sex) get the permission to live with their partners in Canada. According to this program, the permanent Canadian residents and Canadian citizens can apply for sponsoring the marital partner and dependent children. Once approved, the applicants are allowed to live with the partner in Canada, and they can also work and study there if they want.

Parental and Grandparental Visa

The parental and grandparental visa allows the Canadian children and grandchildren to sponsor their parents and grandparents for living with them in Canada. For sponsoring them, you should either be a permanent resident of Canada or have Canadian Citizenship. At the start of every year, the Department of Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) starts registrations and takes applications under the parental and grandparental visa program. Some random numbers are chosen by the authorities, and only the selected ones get to apply for this visa. If you want to sponsor your parents or grandparents, you should be able to support them financially and keep them at your place. Remember that you will not be given access to any of the public funds. So if you are capable of supporting your parents, you can apply for sponsoring them. After they get the visa, they can live with you in Canada and enjoy permanent residency. Besides, they can also pursue study in Canada and take employment.
